We should start a investment club to invest in hydrogen infrastructure. If Toyota is investing in the technology, that usually means it’s a good bet.

Whats the range on a standard 18wheeler? I know that’s be great on the 95 corridor where 300 miles would get you from DC to nyc through baltimore and philly. But across kansas on 70? Don’t know if this is cutting it yet.

Making it available at some percentage of truck stops is a lot easier than at every single gas station. I wonder what percentage of truck stops made CNG available when it had a big push a decade ago.

Most Love’s, Pilot’s and FJ have LP, Propane or CNG or some combination thereof  today.

Most of my miles In COVID Times are on highways, but I honestly don’t think I’ve pumped a gallon all year that wasn’t from a Truck Stop style setting.  I can envision doing my cross-country trips on hydrogen.  I can’t fathom the down-time of BEV.

I wouldn’t know where to start to invest in infrastructure, but I’ve been watching Ballard since a sudden surge in hiring a few years ago.

I should have been paying more attention a year ago, but some equities have already started to move.

The two companies making the investment to become hydrogen refiners in Australia for the Asian markets are serious about it . The theory is that Oz will have so much excess generating capacity in renewables that making off-hours hydrogen is a no-brainer. Woodside and Siemens are driving it.

Yeah, we’re a long roadtrip family ourselves. ~ 25k per year on our family car. And EV would need a 500 mile (minimum) range to make a 30+ minute stop “worth it” for the kind of trips we often take.

Will be a game-changer when EVs really can get 80% of range in less than 15 mins (with infrastructure built out so you won’t be sitting in long lines on holiday weekends).

We did a 1400 mile road trip this summer of which only like 5 miles were on interstate. So, yeah...

Most large ish cities have CNG already set up for municipal vehicles. If a company made a FCEV powerplant that could handle a variety of fuel gases, OTR would be much more feasible.

1k-2k miles, depending on fuel capacity and consumption (300 gallons and 6.5 mpg on the high end).

So 3-6 times the stops? Not for long hauling, I'd think?
